Default Students clean turtle nesting area at Sandspit


Some 162 school children of the city took part in an activity to clean green turtles nesting area at Sandspit Beach here on Sunday. The cleanliness activity was organised by WWF-Pakistan in collaboration with B Braun and Eik Koshish organisation.
The event was aimed at contributing towards conservation of turtle species and creating awareness among masses about environmental pollution and its hazards.
The event also looked at building partnership with corporate sector for biodiversity conservation and finding solution to environmental issues.
As many as 292 garbage bags were used to clean the site in which school children participated enthusiastically. The students vowed to clean their environment and spread the message to others for the sustainability of environment and marine life.
The speakers at the event addressed the issues confronting green turtle species, water pollution and hazards to marine biodiversity.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Director WWF Pakistan Rab Nawaz highlighted the unique nature of the activity in terms of diverse partnership, including public and private sector, as well as Eik Koshish and B Braun.
