Default Learning programme for children

THE Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop and the USAID’s most significant and unique 130 episode-long four years Pakistan Children’s Television Project “Sim Sim Hamara” in Urdu and Pakistan’s other languages is going on air on Saturday (today). A mix of rural and urban Pakistan, Sim Sim Hamra is a combination of aesthetic traditions and elements from all around Pakistan, and reflective of various ‘Mohallas’ across the country. It is not only a wonderful reflection of regional flavours and national aesthetic cultures but also the most attractive learning ‘device’ for the Pakistani underprivileged kids across the country. In the entire 130 episodes of this children’s serial, the kids have been taught and enlightened through an imaginary street set-up at the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop’s Markee Studios on Raiwind Road.
It is also a big initiative to contribute towards the education of children and create the most elements of mutual respect, kindness and equal opportunities, besides encouraging the basic learning instincts. Sim Sim Hamara is a fun, magical place, which one could imagine to be at every nook and corner of every street in Pakistan.
According to one of the main forces behind this unique and first ever serial of its kind for Pakistani children, Chief of Party Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop Party Faizan Peerzada, briefing about the PCTV Project, said that it was a four years long project which would create a series of educational television show aimed at developing basic language and math skills in young children without access to schooling. There will be 130 episodes in Urdu and four regional languages broadcast nationwide. These programmes will stress messages of inclusion and respect, with a particular emphasis on opportunities for girls.BZUPAGES.COM
